Job summary

Qualifications

Previous hospital experience as admissions representative preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet required timelines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills; customer service experience recommended.
High School Graduate or GED Equivalent required.

Responsibilities

Interview patient or representative to obtain demographics.
Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
Coordinate with Admitting department including PBX and reception areas.
Input and retrieve data using a computer.
Communicate with patients across age groups using appropriate terminology.
Maintain proficiency in medical terminology; complete special projects within set timeframes.
