Job summary

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline is seeking a certified and/or licensed Paramedic to join the Emergency Department patient care team. The Paramedic will perform RN-delegated tasks, maintain patient care, and help ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment.

He/she will work under RN supervision and collaborate with nursing staff to deliver high-quality care. The position requires two to three years of ambulatory health care experience, EMT-Paramedic certification, and

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Two to three years’ experience in a doctor’s office or other ambulatory health care setting

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean and safe environment, and manages all assigned supplies and equipment
• Demonstrates proficiency in setting up procedures as delegated.
• Operates patient monitoring equipment, records, rhythm strips, runs 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers and glucometer readings under the direction of the RN.
• Performs phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens and inserts saline lock, foley catheter and nasal gastric tubes under the direction of the RN.
• Assists in patient care, obtains and documents vital signs, provides patient hygiene, maintains clear communications with patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Transports patients to radiology and nursing units using appropriate transport and monitoring equipment.
