Job summary

Graham Packaging Company in Evansville, Indiana is seeking a Packaging Specialist to join the NIGHT SHIFT, 7PM–7AM on a rotating schedule. You will perform housekeeping, case making, inspecting and packing of finished product following safety, quality GMP and company procedures.

Responsibilities include following packing instructions, communicating issues to supervisors, and assisting in training and continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
• Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
• Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.

Responsibilities

• General housekeeping of the production area, case making, inspecting, and packing of finished product in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
• Follow safety, health, quality GMP policies and company procedures.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement projects.
• Visually inspect finished product for defects before packing.
• Follow written packing instructions.
• Notify supervisor of potential problems with finished product or machinery.
• Grind bottles as necessary and check for contamination.
• Open and inspect bundles of corrugated material and check for defects.
• Stack case/dividers on carts and feed into case forming machine.
• Use case making equipment safely.
• Notify coworkers when supplies at the machine need replenishment.
• Communicate with incoming shift about problems with quality or configurations.
• Assist with rework and heldware; assist in training new workers.
