Job summary

Port Houston in Seabrook, TX is seeking an Operations Superintendent to oversee the night‑shift vessel, gate, and container yard operations, optimizing production, efficiency and safety while coordinating personnel and equipment.

The role leads ILA Local 1351 and Local 28 staff, sets up vessel operations plans, directs port equipment movement, maintains safety protocols, and collaborates with Port Police and Fire departments. A bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of related experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Administration, Business Administration, or related major; or 5+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day vessel, gate, and container yard operations.
• Supervise ILA Local 1351 and ILA Local 28 staff, managing performance and discipline.
• Set up Vessel Operations plans and coordinate terminal allocations.
• Direct movement of port equipment and labor; ensure timely service of trucks.
• Coordinate with Yard Planning Center and perform rail operations as needed.
• Maintain safety audits, incident reporting, and liaison with Port Police/Fire.
• Prepare crane bills and monitor crane utilization; manage payroll approvals.
• Inform Terminal Manager and Vessel Operations Manager of activities.
