Job summary

Cheeseman Transport is seeking a 2nd shift Operations Coordinator to support daily planning, scheduling, and movement of customer freight. You will work with drivers, customers, and internal teams to track shipments, resolve issues, and meet service expectations.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, operations coordination, dispatch, or a similar role.
• Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS) preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and track customer shipments using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Review and update load assignments.
• Dispatch and support drivers throughout the delivery process.
• Monitor truck and trailer locations, availability, and utilization.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment service.
• Track daily freight movement and provide timely shipment updates.
• Identify delays and communicate issues to management.
• Create and maintain exception reports documenting operational issues and delays.
• Serve as backup support during periods of high volume or staff absences.
• Resolve customer questions, problems, and complaints promptly.
• Collaborate with customers, drivers, and internal teams to follow procedures.
• Provide reports and shipment information to internal and external customers.
