Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Attendant to support surgical teams in a hospital setting. You will perform decontamination, prepare and stock supplies, and transport patients and equipment throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in a hospital, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a current BLS certificate. On-call duties are part of the role and adherence to safety guidelines is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or graduate of a formal program or documented on-job training.
• 1 year to 3 years of experience in a hospital.
• BLS certification required upon hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Performs proper Operating Room decontamination procedures after each surgical procedure and disposal of waste.
• Orders, stocks, and monitors usage of routine OR attendant supplies and equipment.
• Transports and retrieves patients, beds, instruments, supplies, and labs to and from surgery and related areas.
• Dons sterile gloves and PPE to assist OR staff and operatives; operates standard OR equipment safely.
• Responds to on-call duties and be a first-line resource to the surgical team.
• Organizes OR tasks based on schedule and needs, ensuring cost-effective care.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of stretchers, beds, sinks, and hallways.
