Job summary

The Nursing Technician performs patient care and non-patient care functions within their scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.

Duties include but are not limited to ADL's, vital signs, I&O, performing EKGs, documentation of vital signs and I & O, simple dressing changes, specimen collection, assisting with meals, transporting of patients, medications, or specimens, ambulating of patients, urinary drainage care (indwelling, external and suprapubic),

Qualifications

• High School Required or GED Required.
• Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred.
• Preferred Successful completion of the Nursing Technician Orientation.
• Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred.
• Preferred Excellent Communication Skills (written & verbal).
• Teamwork
• Adaptability
• Strong Problem Solving, Judgment & Decision-Making Skills
• Stress Tolerance
• BLS - American Heart Association within 180 Days Required
• Nursing Technicians that will be trained to read the monitors require the 4-day EKG class
• Nursing Technicians in the Emergency Department must complete de-escalation training within 1 year of hire or transfer to the Emergency Room.
