Job summary

Peabody Energy in Carlisle, Indiana, is seeking a Night Shift Mechanic to join the Maintenance team at Bear Run Mine. The role focuses on preventive and breakdown maintenance of fixed and mobile mining equipment on open-cut sites.

You will work a night shift schedule from 5pm to 4am, with potential weekend or holiday shifts as needed, and benefit from 401K matching, medical, dental and vision coverage, plus PTO starting on your first day of work.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience repairing and troubleshooting large surface mining equipment.
• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values.
• Inspect work area and plant for hazards, damage and defects.
• Examine drawings or specifications to determine work methods, sequence of activities or manufacture of components.
• Diagnose faults or breakdowns.
• Estimate time and materials required to complete jobs.
• Raise orders for materials.
• Undertake repairs or component changeouts as required.
• Clean and maintain tools and work area.
• Train other personnel or apprentices (if required).
• Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Other duties as assigned by the company.
