Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Lab Technician to support Urick Foundry by performing laboratory testing and inspection to keep metal melting, pouring, and sand-making processes in control. You’ll prepare certifications and reports, maintain equipment, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure quality and compliance.

Hours are from 10pm to 6am, with a focus on accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to perform laboratory testing and inspection activities in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document test results clearly.
• Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform metal and sand testing to verify process control and product quality requirements.
• Conduct incoming material testing and verify material certifications against applicable specs.
• Prepare customer certifications, metallography reports, laboratory reports, and related test documentation.
• Set up and perform resonant frequency testing, including sample evaluation and verification activities.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, diagrams, and work instructions to support quality and inspection decisions.
• Maintain laboratory and testing equipment through routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ensure laboratory procedures remain accurate and aligned with operational requirements; support continuous improvement initiatives.
