Job summary

Remedy Intelligent Staffing in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support production by analyzing metal samples from the manufacturing process.

You will perform mechanical and chemical testing, enter test data, operate basic lab tools, maintain equipment, and support QA/R&D with testing protocols. Associate degree or 3 years lab experience preferred; shift is 6am–6pm with rotating schedule; pay $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in science-related field or 3 years lab experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Manufacturing or metals experience preferred.
• General PC skills and related software experience.
• Sound communication, organizational and analytical skills with the ability to plan work.
• Proper use of testing equipment.
• Familiarity with ASTM methods.

Responsibilities

• Complete mechanical & dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions & ASTM specifications.
• Utilize router, shear, & other small power tools to shape samples.
• Prepare & analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition.
• Enter data accurately and communicate those results to required parties.
• Perform preventative maintenance & calibration to keep test equipment in good working order.
• Maintain retention sample inventory for required intervals.
• Support Quality & R&D departments with special testing protocols.
• Any other duties as assigned.
