Job summary

MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane is seeking a Mental Health Associate II for the float pool to provide 1:1 sitter care across units. The role includes collaborating with a registered nurse and using CNA skills as needed to support patients with psychiatric conditions during night shifts.

The position emphasizes ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment, observing patient behavior, and documenting care activities while assisting with routine tasks and room maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Current Washington State Certified Nurse Assistant license required.
• Prior patient care experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

• Observes assigned patient, maintaining a direct line of vision to the patient at all times and communicates unusual occurrences to the nurse.
• Assists with maintaining a safe environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, and applying safety interventions.
• Orients the patient and family to the facility policies and procedures; Documents patient care activities.
• Provides appropriate interventions if patient attempts unsafe activities and seeks assistance as necessary.
• Changes bed linens, tidies room, and empties trash as needed.
• Provides direct patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse.
• Maintains clean and orderly utility rooms.
