Job summary

St. Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team on a per diem schedule with a Night Shift focus as a Generalist and potential to cover day/evening openings as needed.

You will perform routine and specialized lab tests, exercise independent judgment, recognize critical values, and maintain accurate documentation while ensuring safety with infectious specimens and hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in biological, chemical, or laboratory science (or related) is required or equivalent experience.
• MT (ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) preferred; other training with experience may be acceptable.
• Independence in judgment and understanding of laboratory procedures and theory are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests.
• Exercise independent professional judgment before releasing results.
• Recognize critical values and respond appropriately.
• Perform quality control per laboratory protocol.
• Interpret and communicate results to physicians and hospital staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation in LIS or manual logs.
• Handle infectious specimens and hazardous materials safely.
