Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a laboratory specialist to collect patient samples and perform tests in hematology, chemistry and microbiology. You will use the lab information system, perform quality checks, and report critical results with accuracy.

The role includes maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and training new partners and students while meeting turnaround times and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical laboratory science or military equivalent.
• Qualified to perform high complexity testing per CLIA 493.1489.
• Must obtain MLT certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens as required.
• Perform lab tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Analyze results for validity and accuracy prior to reporting.
• Maintain quality control activities and document reports.
• Provide training and supervision for new staff and students.
• Ensure timely turnaround and report critical results.
