Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform diagnostic testing and specimen handling in a high-volume laboratory environment. You will operate and calibrate automated and manual equipment, ensure accurate results, and adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes quality control, proficiency testing, and ongoing professional development, with night shifts (10:30 pm–7:00 am) and alternating weekends required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science required.
• MLS/MT certification within 1 year as listed.
• Ability to perform simple, moderate, and highly complex laboratory testing.
• Knowledge of laboratory theories and their clinical applications.
• Ability to calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Ability to perform quality control and QA procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot testing and instrument problems.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Willing to complete continuing education and maintain certification.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and organizational policies.
• Night shift: four 8-hour shifts weekly, 10:30 pm–7:00 am.
• Every other weekend availability; one major and one minor holiday.
• Work authorization verification through E-Verify and Form I-9.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing used in the treatment and diagnosis of disease.
• Collect, label, store, and prepare specimens using manual and automated equipment.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Communicate test results accurately and timely.
• Identify problems requiring troubleshooting and seek assistance.
• Participate in accreditation, proficiency testing, and annual performance competencies.
• Assist leadership with signing off annual competencies for staff.
• Notify supervisors of unresolved calibration or equipment failures.
• Follow corrective action policies and document actions.
• Record, report, and monitor patient data following validation and documentation requirements.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and notify staff when stocks fall below par levels.
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and safe department.
• Perform department- and shift-specific duties as assigned.
