Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, KS, is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join Olathe Hospital for a full-time day shift. The role performs a range of laboratory tests across Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Serology, Coagulation and Phlebotomy on clinic specimens to support diagnosis and patient care.

Qualified candidates will have ASCP/NCA/AMT certification options or equivalent education as described, plus 1+ year of clinical lab experience without a Bachelor’s

Qualifications

• Associates degree and educational requirements as required to become certified with ASCP, NCA, or AMT.
• Or Bachelor's degree or education requirements as needed to become certified with ASCP, NCA, AMT.
• Completion of an HEW approved Medical Technology program or US Military Lab training with 10+ years hospital lab experience (un-certified).
• 1+ year of clinical laboratory experience without a Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Performs tests and procedures in Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Serology, Coagulation and Phlebotomy.
• Ensures specimen integrity and proper handling, labeling and storage per procedures.
• Operates, calibrates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instruments with proper documentation.
• Maintains quality control and documents results, interventions and corrective actions.
• Effectively communicates results and hand-offs between shifts and training new staff.
