Job summary

Penn Medicine—Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist Generalist for our Core Lab Team on the night shift. The ideal candidate has a background in chemistry, hematology and STAT microbiology within a hospital setting.

This full-time role performs waived, moderate and high-complexity tests, ensures quality control, and maintains laboratory equipment to support accurate patient results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MLS or related biological/chemical science required.
• Broad knowledge of laboratory methods and quality assurance.
• PC and LIS knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate and/or high-complexity tests and procedures in clinical laboratory sections under supervision.
• Monitors, performs and documents QC, maintenance and calibration procedures per standards.
• Starts up, shuts down and maintains lab equipment; reports issues and takes corrective actions.
• Participates in Proficiency Testing and maintains regulatory compliance.
• Coordinates training of new employees and students; contributes to policy updates.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
