Job summary

Bongards Creameries is seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic for our Humboldt facility to troubleshoot and repair cheese-making machinery in a high‑speed production environment. Responsibilities include installing and modifying systems, performing preventative maintenance, and logging repair work.

The role requires strong electrical/mechanical aptitude; knowledge of PLCs and schematics is preferred. The position offers a night schedule with PTO, 401(k) match, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent math and reading skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Electrical experience with 24v DC and 120v AC to 480V 3-phase AC.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of Ladder Logic and Allen Bradley PLCs.
• Knowledge of Schematics and LOTO procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, wrappers, packaging equipment, AGV, GIA, FANUC robots.
• Install parts on various equipment and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems.
• Record repairs and materials used; maintain logs.
• Maintain cleanliness and lubrication of moving components.
• Follow Preventative Maintenance Schedule and document tasks.
• Report food safety and quality concerns to supervisor.

Job description

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic based out of our Humboldt facility. The maintenance mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing cheese-making machinery in a high-speed production environment. Responsibilities also include installing and modifying related systems in the facility as a whole.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect and diagnose equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, wrappers, packaging equipment, AGV, GIA, FANUC Robots
• Install parts (new or refurbished) on various types of equipment
• Able to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electronic equipment (24v DC, 120v AC to 480v 3phase AC)
• Record repairs made and inventory used
• Clean and lubricate moving components
• Performs work on machines according to Preventative Maintenance Schedule
• Maintains detailed log of work completed, materials used, time spent, etc.
• Must report all Food Safety and quality concerns to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
• Must be comfortable to work indoor/outdoor, cold/warm environments, crawl spaces and elevated areas
• Other duties as assigned

• Previous maintenance experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred
• Must adhere to and follow all Safety, GMP, other quality guidelines
• Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
• Ability to spend long periods of time standing

• Night Shift 6:00pm to 6:00am Following a 2-2-3 schedule
