Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Machinist in Milwaukee, WI, for night shifts from 6pm to 6am. Starting wage is $39.19 per hour with a $1.00/hour shift differential. The role requires reading blueprints, calculating tolerances, and setting up machine tools in a safe environment.

You will follow SOPs and conduct safety inspections, while maintaining logs and supporting maintenance of production equipment. Candidates should have 2 years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read blueprints and work orders.
• Safe and compliant with PPE and safety rules.
• Able to use basic math including geometry and trigonometry.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and set up machine tools.

Responsibilities

• Complies with safety practices and company directives.
• Sets up and operates lathes, grinders, mills and hones.
• Performs layout work and reads drawings/blueprints.
• Interprets drawings and calculates indices and tolerances.
• Maintains logbooks and inspects tooling and equipment.
