Job summary

Sargento Foods Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking a production operator to set up machines, perform changeovers, and ensure weights, temperatures, dates, and packaging meet safety and quality standards.

You will work on the production line to resolve issues, monitor metal detection and weights, and maintain documentation while collaborating with Process tech, maintenance, and supervisors. Night shift is 2/2/3 nights, 6:00pm–6:00am.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate machines, add film, and complete changeovers to maximize output while maintaining correct weights, temperatures, dates, and scale integrity.
• Verify adequate supplies are available and notify when materials are inadequate or cannot be located.
• Work on production line to assist in solving operational problems, adjust machinery and equipment, and maintain a safe work environment.
• Communicate with line staff to resolve production problems and interruptions.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and packaging problems and implement corrective measures to meet volume and quality standards.
• Maintain production records and distribute reports for each production run.
• Maintain communication with Process tech, line employees, Maintenance, and Supervisor to facilitate operation of equipment.
• Set-up and verify correct package, code date and labels.
• Test, monitor, and record metal detection checks where applicable.
• Monitor out-of-spec boxes, film, on-hold or non-conformance forms.
• Monitor temperatures for heat seals and adjust when necessary.
• Monitor weights through SPC or MES.
• Monitor oxygen checks/gas flush where applicable and adjust when necessary.
• Monitor accuracy of case counts and scan materials and finished product into the computer system.
