Job summary

SIMONA AMERICA Industries is seeking a Machine Operator for our facility in Archbald, PA. In this role, you will operate an extruder to form thermoplastic Polypropylene, PVC, and Polyethylene sheets, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining records of production and performance.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and have strong mechanical knowledge. The work environment is dynamic, requiring safety equipment and certifications through OSHA training.

Job description

Machine Operator

Operates extruder to form thermoplastic Polypropylene, PVC & Polyethylene sheets by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of different materials and products to run product properly.
• Read and understand orders. Set up and run orders.
• Apply general mechanical knowledge of extruder and downstream equipment.
• Change gauges, speeds and coordinate changeovers in a fast paced environment.
• Use micrometers, calipers and other quality tools to adjust dies and process accordingly.
• Take machine apart as instructed for cleaning, replacing parts and changeovers without causing damage.
• Keep accurate records of production performance and quality documentation.
• Package all finished products securely for shipping.
• Trimming to clean all finished sheets.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers and departments.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

With minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, interpret, resolving problems and issues using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift, HAZWOP, RCRA, Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous certification, and Crane operation certification.

Physical Demands

May also include frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers can also be expected.
