Job summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting.

Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program and become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• IV therapy/management skills may be required in North Dakota (see state specifics).
• Must have supervised clinical experience or equivalent practical hours across life span.
• Hold an unencumbered LPN license with state board; multi-state licensure is a plus.
• Continued CEU and competency training are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for residents in long-term care.
• Demonstrate nursing knowledge and apply age/population appropriate standards.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered under supervision.
• Document resident interactions and outcomes; maintain confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and care teams.

Education

Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.

IV therapy/management skills (North Dakota requirement)

Minimum 400 hours of supervised clinical experience

Unencumbered LPN license with state board and multi-state licensure

Annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training
