Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee planning, coordination, and supervision of all technical activities in the laboratory, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency. The role offers a rotating night schedule and a competitive pay range with potential bonuses.

Required: eight years in a lab with four years in supervision; strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and proficiency in MS Office and LIS systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years laboratory experience with at least four (4) years direct supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign and direct work in the laboratory. Serve as liaison with other areas as needed.
• Mentor and support direct reports in their responsibilities and functions. Identify and implement training programs as necessary to ensure they receive training in supervisory skill development.
• Define, coordinate and monitor quality assurance programs and supervise activities of the department Quality Coordinator/Representative. Ensure quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date.
• Oversee staffing of all personnel in the laboratory. Interview, hire, train and provide staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
• Identify future needs in terms of staff, equipment, and facilities. Submit appropriate documentation for procurement of such.
• Review test performance, drive process improvements and project management. Prepare and submit required reports to meet deadlines.
• Manage test database. Ensure SOPs and database reflect current process.
• Coordinate R&D activities related to operations and participate on committees as needed.
• Develop annual budget and manage department costs and resources to adhere to budget.
• Resolve problems through interaction with clients.
• Define, coordinate and monitor EHS programs and supervise Department Safety Coordinator. Ensure regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain lab areas and equipment in a safe, functional and sanitary condition.
• Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA requirements.
• Participate in government or regulatory inspections.
