Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a PRN Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for night shifts. You will provide patient-centered care, participate in multidisciplinary plans, and support families through labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

State licensure, CPR/ACLS, and fetal monitoring credentials are required; two years L&D experience or residency completion with one year is expected. Role requires independent judgment, strong communication, and the ability to float within your skillset as needed to

Qualifications

• Must have two years of Labor & Delivery experience or completion of Parkland's RN Residency/Fellowship with one year L&D experience.
• Must have current RN license or Texas Board of Nursing permit; or Compact RN license.
• Must hold current CPR and ALS or ACLS certification; renewals required per policy.
• Must have electronic fetal monitoring credentials as applicable and renew on schedule.
• Must pass Medication Examination prior to orientation; on-file for current Parkland employees.

Responsibilities

• Acts as patient advocate, focusing on needs, rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
• Maintains positive relationships with Parkland staff and external customers.
• Delivers nursing care with independent judgment and provides education to patient and family.
• Performs safe medication administration using the six rights and manages IV access.
• Documents accurately and timely in patient care records; ensures compliance with standards.
• Floats to areas within skillset as needed and supports non-nursing staff as directed.
