Responsibilities

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals for the shift and department.
• Manage daily shift operations; organize workflow, redirect staff, maintain lab equipment, and delegate tasks.
• Organize and lead routine team meetings and 1-on-1 employee meetings.
• Support and coach direct reports through career and professional development.
• Monitor and provide feedback on performance metrics including attendance, productivity, and quality.
• Prepare and conduct employee feedback and disciplinary actions per policy.
• Manage shift staffing levels in collaboration with the clinical laboratory management team.
• Interview and recruit employees that meet core values.
• Investigate and resolve test record and automation problems per policies; maintain turnaround times.
• Perform root cause analysis when process deviations occur and implement corrective actions.
• Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and GDP documentation.
• Develop department goals with leadership aligned to priorities; support quality and process improvements.
• Assist with SOP development, inspections, and audits; support cross-functional initiatives.
• Support training materials review and cross-training within the Clinical Lab Training Department.
• Support all clinical laboratory operations, including bench work when needed.
• Handle and dispose of specimens following safety policies and regulations.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Motivate and inspire employees through coaching and leading by example; maintain morale and engagement.
• Communicate and manage change effectively.
