Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Supervisor, Specimen Processing for the Cancer Diagnostics location in Madison, WI. This role oversees daily operations, staffing, timecards, coaching, and performance management in a night and weekend shift.

You will lead a team to meet quality and productivity goals, maintain equipment, and ensure accurate reporting. Abbott emphasizes growth, training, and strict adherence to GDP and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or GED with 2 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 3+ years of experience working in a laboratory, medical or high throughput production environment.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• 2+ years using computers including MS Office.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals for the shift.
• Manage daily shift operations and organize workflow, equipment, and tasks.
• Organize and lead routine team meetings and one-on-one meetings.
• Coach direct reports through career development.
• Monitor attendance, productivity and quality metrics and provide feedback.
• Conduct employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions per policy.
• Maintain shift staffing levels with clinical lab management.
• Interview and recruit candidates who align with core values.
• Investigate and resolve test record and automation problems.
• Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Support the company’s quality management system policies and GDP documentation.
• Help develop department goals aligned with priorities and support cross-functional initiatives.
