Abbott in Madison, WI is seeking a Supervisor, Specimen Processing to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Specimen Processing Department. This role involves staffing, scheduling, coaching, and performance management, with work performed nights and weekends, following all laboratory policies and GDP.

The position requires an Associate degree or HS diploma with 2+ years in a lab, plus 2+ years leadership experience and strong proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifikationen

• Associate degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; or HS diploma with 2 years relevant experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a laboratory, medical or high throughput production environment.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• 2+ years using computers to include MS Office, email, and internet navigation.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field (preferred).
• 3+ years lab experience with moderate/high complexity testing (preferred).
• Knowledge of CAP, GLP, GDP, CLIA, NYDOH, and HIPAA (preferred).
• Lean experience (Kaizen, Kanban, root cause analysis, countermeasure implementation) (preferred).
• Leadership experience with large teams (>30 direct reports) (preferred).

Aufgaben

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals for the shift and department.
• Manage daily shift operations and organize efficient workflow.
• Organize and lead routine team meetings and 1-on-1 meetings.
• Coach direct reports through career and professional development.
• Monitor and provide feedback on employee performance metrics.
• Conduct employee feedback and disciplinary actions per policy.
• Maintain shift staffing levels in collaboration with management.
• Recruit employees meeting core values.
• Investigate and resolve test record and automation problems.
• Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Support Quality Management System policies and GDP documentation.
• Develop department goals aligned with priorities.
• Support quality/process improvements and SOP development.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives across departments.
• Assist Clinical Lab Training with materials and cross-training.
• Support laboratory operations, including bench work.
• Handle and dispose of specimens following safety policies.
