Job summary

Impact Workforce Solutions is hiring for a Locomotive Surface Prep and Protective Coatings Technician on a night shift in Mayfield, KY. You will spray-primer, color, and clear coats, prep metal surfaces, and perform abrasive blasting to ready locomotives.

The role runs Mon–Thu, 8:00 PM–6:00 AM, with on-site work and safety-focused task execution. Two night-shift positions are available, with onboarding on the day shift before transitioning to nights.

Qualifications

• Hands-on industrial painting experience on metal (e.g., automotive equipment, trucks, trailers, bridges, structural steel, or heavy machinery).
• Proven skill with spray guns and multi-stage finishing processes.
• Knowledge of surface prep and industrial coating techniques.
• Sandblasting experience on large equipment or steel structures.
• Comfortable in a dirty, physically demanding industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Spray-apply primer, color, and clear coats using spray guns.
• Prepare metal surfaces: sanding, cleaning, masking, and bonding agent application.
• Perform abrasive blasting on large steel components.
• Apply decals and pressure wash locomotives and equipment.
• Maintain tools and booths; follow safety protocols and ensure quality finishes.
