Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Full-Time Security Officer for the Night Shift at the York hospital. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, courteous environment for staff, patients, and visitors, with priority for individuals having prior public safety experience.

Hours are 6:00pm–6:00am with weekend and holiday rotations. A $1500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment is offered, along with excellent benefits and a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and diffuse tense situations.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
• Must obtain Act 235 certification within required timeframe.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas.
• Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a safe environment.
• Inspect parcels as necessary to prevent theft.
• Respond to and resolve problems, disputes and unusual circumstances.
• Maintain required certifications and licensing.
• Assist with traffic control and vehicle assists.
• Transport deceased to morgue and release bodies.
• Monitor alarms and respond to alerts.
• Patrol hospital grounds to deter crime and document activities.
• Contact UPMC Police Officers when necessary.
• Conduct patient escorts and stand-by details.
• Complete mandatory training per guidelines.
• Report incidents and hazards.
