Job summary

Harborview Medical Center in Seattle is seeking Hospital Custodians to maintain cleanliness and safety in inpatient and administrative areas. This role contributes to a clean, healthy, and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Under general supervision, you will clean, disinfect, and maintain floors, rooms, and equipment, following established procedures and safety guidelines. 100% FTE night shift from 11:00pm to 7:30am supports UW Medicine’s mission to provide outstanding patient

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure.
• Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms.
• Empties/relines wastebaskets, regulated medical waste containers, and recycle containers.
• Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure.
• Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors.
• Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure.
• Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors.
• Follows written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, personal protective apparel, supplies, and equipment.
