Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Pompano Beach, FL is seeking a Lab Assistant I in Histology to support slide preparation and tissue specimen handling on a Monday–Friday night shift (9:00 PM–5:30 AM). The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and basic MS Office skills; prior histology or lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Some college science courses preferred.
• One year histopathology or laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine activities involved in the preparation of histopathology slides under supervision.
• Receive/collect, label and prepare tissue specimens for gross dissection.
• Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• Monitor inventory, requisition supplies prior to depletion; stock and maintain laboratory supplies.
• Clean, sterilize, organize and maintain work area, glassware and laboratory equipment.
• Perform coverslipping of stained slides both manually and automated.
• Responsible for all assigned clerical duties.
• Comply with health, quality and safety policies, procedures and practices; use PPE.
• Other duties as assigned.
