Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a customer-focused team member to deliver outstanding service and maintain a safe, clean store environment.

You will assist department leadership in meeting sales and profit targets while upholding our core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. You will interact with customers, respond to questions about products, and support stocking, quality assurance, and safety programs across the store.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Any retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks, theft or fraud.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
