Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Nursing Float team on night shift. You will deliver safe patient care across units using the nursing process and collaborate with physicians to monitor changes in condition.

This full-time position requires ability to float to two or more units, maintain competency, and participate in patient and family teaching while upholding professional standards.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (ARC/AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (ARC/AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS (ARC/AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. (Only required for floating into E.R., O.R., PACU, Day Patient.)
• NRP and Basic Fetal monitoring or AWHONN within 90 days for employees floating to Women’s Services.
• TNCC within 12 months of hire for employees floating to Emergency Department.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Able to float to two (2) or more units and maintain competency within assigned areas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Float RN can be assigned to two or more units based on need and will maintain competency to practice in all units.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition including diagnostic results and symptoms.
