Job summary

Poseidon Barge, Ltd. is seeking a Fabrication Shop Helper to safely operate fabrication equipment and support production on the 3rd shift at our Berne, Indiana shop. Responsibilities include CNC table operations, brake press and saw use, power washing, rust inhibitor application, and material handling.

A strong emphasis on quality, safety, and teamwork is required. The role supports production flow, requires reading blueprints, and involves heavy lifting and forklift/overhead crane operation.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints, drawings and work instructions.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely.
• Detail oriented with strong math and measurement skills.
• Proficiency with tape measures, gauges and calipers.
• Experience operating CNC Plasma, Brake Press and saw equipment preferred.
• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC-controlled fabrication equipment.
• Review drawings to determine material requirements and cutting sequences.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and labeling.
• Read measurement tools to verify tolerances and dimensions.
• Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Power wash barges and apply rust inhibitors as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work areas.
