Job summary

Novolex is seeking an Extrusion Operator Associate at our Mineral Wells plant in West Virginia. You will operate extrusion equipment, monitor quality, and ensure production meets safety and efficiency standards on a 6:00pm–6:00am shift.

Starting pay is $17.95/hour with a $1 shift differential, weekly pay, and eligibility for monthly bonus based on plant productivity; requires a high school diploma and 1–3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably extrusion.

Qualifications

• Must have or be able to obtain a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in Extrusion.
• Ability to accurately input all formulas and recipes into a computer console.
• Ability to work in a team environment and support other departments to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

• Tapes end of extruded article to reel spindle and starts machine that winds material onto revolving spindle.
• Measures extruded article with measuring wheel and cuts it to length using a knife.
• Removes roll from spindle with a forklift and weighs roll on scale.
• Records length and weight on shipping tag.
• Saws scrap tubes and rods into lengths for grinding in hammer mill.
• May mix thermoplastic materials according to formula for feeding extrusion machine.
• Sets up extrusion machine by inputting information into a computer console and adjusts roll gaps.
• Monitors extrusion machines to ensure proper alignment and operation.
• Troubleshoots machine areas and components.
• Installs dies, mandrels, containers, heating coils, press tools, extrusion heads, and run-out bridging.
• Regulates extrusion rate to prevent metal rupture and adherence to walls.
• Records data such as crew time, billets used, and items processed.
• Housekeeping daily.
• Other duties as assigned.
