Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking an RN Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department on a full-time night shift schedule (7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 36 hours/week). This union position (SEIU) offers an enhanced starting pay and a $15,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates with a two-year commitment.

Additional benefits include tuition assistance and loan repayment programs. Candidates must hold PA RN licensure, complete orientation, and obtain required certifications within two years.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current license to practice nursing in Pennsylvania.
• Must satisfactorily complete the Nursing Department's orientation program and probationary period.
• CPR is required based on AHA standards with both didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain one of eight certifications within two years of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and administer medications/IV therapy per policy.
• Assess and reassess patient and family needs; update care plans accordingly.
• Plan and coordinate care with patients, families, and other professionals.
• Engage in team discussions to develop patient care plans and communicate through systems.
• Use Bed Management System, Alpha, CPOE and related systems effectively.
