Job summary

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky, is seeking an Overnight Emergency Equine Veterinary Technician/Assistant to support on-site hospital operations with dedicated veterinary care for patients and clients. The role includes work in the Surgery Barn with a team, nights from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, four 10-hour shifts weekly.

Experience with horses is required; veterinary technician licensure is not required but beneficial.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Prior experience with horses is preferred; equine technician/assistant experience is a plus.
• Licensure as a Veterinary Technician is not required, but beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Answering and dispatching emergency calls and client communication.
• Assisting doctors to admit and triage emergency cases.
• Assisting the team with emergency surgical operations as needed.
• Provide directed patient care including monitoring, examinations, medication administration, and nursing care.
• Maintain patient records and ensure biosecurity and cleanliness.
