Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced ER team in Toledo, OH. This role supports patient care, anesthesia monitoring, and client communication during overnight shifts Fri-Sun 7pm-7am.

State Registered Veterinary Technician license required; prior emergency experience preferred; strong math skills for drug dosing and CRIs; adaptable to a high-stress environment; excellent communication.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as needed.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
