Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, PA is seeking a part-time Pharmacist to support the Emergency Department and expanded emergency pharmacy program. The role involves patient medication histories, counseling, and responding to emergencies during a 12-hour night shift (8 PM–8 AM) with weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualified candidates hold a Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited school, PA licensure, and hospital experience; PGY-1 residency preferred. Benefits to follow and onsite parking available.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE approved college of pharmacy required.
• Successful completion of ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency or 3 years hospital experience required.
• Registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania required.
• Preferred: Pyxis MedStation, EPIC BLS and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient data to identify medication-related problems.
• Participate in medical emergencies and formal alerts (trauma, stroke, sepsis, STEMI).
• Review and interpret orders for appropriate drug, dose, and form.
• Check for drug interactions and allergies; take appropriate action.
• Update medication histories for admitted patients.
• Consult with providers and nurses on pharmacotherapy optimization.
• Provide timely drug information responses to healthcare professionals and patients.
• Document care activities in the EMR per guidelines.
