UMass Memorial Health Worcester is seeking a Mental Health Associate for the Emergency Mental Health unit on nights. This on-site role supports patient care in a 32-hour weekly schedule, including 11pm-7:30am shifts, working with the mental health team to implement treatment plans and ensure safety.

You will assist with vital signs, documentation, group activities, and de-escalation, while coordinating with R.N. and other staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification required within one month as a condition of employment.
• One year of relevant patient support experience.
• Must have effective interpersonal skills to communicate respectfully with patients, staff and visitors.
• Must demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English clearly.

Responsabilités

• Participates as a member of the mental health team and supports patients, families, nurses and physicians.
• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in the patient.
• Maintains patient safety with safety checks and environmental safety rounds.
• Assists in development and maintenance of a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Leads or co-leads group activities and supervises recreational activities.
• Assists in medical emergencies as directed by the RN and records vital signs.
