Job summary

County of Santa Clara seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The incumbent will supervise staff, help develop nursing policies, participate in hiring, budgeting, and quality initiatives, and may provide direct patient care as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires California RN license.
• At least 3 years of acute care experience in Emergency or ICU.

Responsibilities

• Assess personnel needs to provide nursing care for a patient population.
• Assess learning needs of staff and patients and monitor educational programs.
• Assess the quality of nursing care against standards.
• Assess need for support services and materials.
• Plan for development of personnel with managers.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to plan programs and patient care approaches.
• Develop goals and objectives for assigned teams and participate in policy development.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting quality of nursing services.
• Serve as resource for administrative policies and procedures.
• Promote effective communication and provide direct patient care as needed.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring process and day-to-day clinical operations.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to establish standards of nursing care.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing educational programs.
• Implement new programs and approaches to patient care.
• Utilize management techniques to direct and support staff.
