Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Pontiac, MI is seeking a full-time Emergency Department Aide to support nursing and medical staff with patient care and clerical duties during evening shifts.

You will assist with admissions, coordinate specimens, monitor patients, and help prepare rooms between patients, while documenting observations in the medical record.

Required: HS diploma, 6 months patient care or US medic program, EMT/paramedic/MA/CNA or nursing student, and BLS; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months patient care experience in a health care delivery setting OR completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
• Certification as an EMT, paramedic, medical assistant (MA), or CNA OR currently enrolled Nursing student who has completed their first Med/Surg rotation
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
• Inventories and restocks emergency department equipment.
• Collects and transports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.
• Assists with admission and discharge of patients, initiates and discontinues IV lines, cleans and prepares examination rooms.
• Places patients on monitors and provides wound care, assisting with procedures as requested.
• Reports and records observations in the patient medical record.
