Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Suffolk, NY is seeking an ED Phlebotomist - Part Time, Nights, for the Clinical Labs-ED Medical Assist team. Under supervision, you will perform routine phlebotomy and central receiving duties, prepare specimens for send-outs, and enter results into the laboratory system.

The ideal candidate holds a High School diploma, a phlebotomy certificate is preferred, and you must demonstrate strong patient care, privacy, and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• Phlebotomy certificate preferred or equivalent documentation and/or 5 years of experience.
• General Office skills (Typing, Filing, Phone).
• General Computer skills.
• General Organizational Skills.
• OSHA Regulations knowledge.
• Standard Precautions knowledge.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine phlebotomy and laboratory central receiving duties.
• Prepare specimens for send-outs to Reference Laboratories and report results in the lab system.
• Greet and identify patients, explain procedures, and ensure privacy and comfort.
• Label tubes accurately and document appropriately.
• Maintain a clean, professional working area and phlebotomy tray.
• May draw for outpatients at off-site locations; assist with EKGs as needed.
