Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Custodian 2 for the night shift to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in UREC facilities. Work hours are 10:00 pm–6:30 am, with responsibilities spanning restroom, office, classroom and hallway cleaning, waste handling, and equipment operation.

The role requires physical endurance and teamwork to ensure a safe, clean environment for students and staff. Position includes pre-employment physical, walking large areas, stair access, and occasional

Qualifications

• Six months of custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
• Must be capable of walking around a 250,000 square foot building multiple times daily and ascend/descend stairs.

Responsibilities

• Cleans restrooms, offices, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, hallways and other areas, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting and polishing.
• Empties and decontaminates waste containers; transports waste to outdoor containers.
• Operates cleaning equipment per manufacturer guidance (vacuum, carpet extractor, floor machines).
• Unlocks/locks areas; manages keys per departmental process; may be responsible for costs if keys lost or stolen.
• Reports safety concerns; contributes to teamwork and department culture; supports program safety and upkeep.
