Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of eighth grade plus one year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work.
• High School Graduate (or possess GED).
• Two years' experience as an Assistant Custodian and one additional year in building cleaning work.
• Current competitive status as Custodian, or reachable on the competitive eligible list.
• Three (3) years paid full time experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities; One year experience as building Custodian.
• Possess Stationary.
• Daily attendance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform normal adjustments and routine service to equipment such as boilers, heating systems, unit ventilators, fans, generators, chillers and custodial equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs to building structures, plumbing, electrical and ventilation systems and operating equipment.
• Maintain outside grounds maintenance including lawn mowing, trimming, trees, shrubs, flowers, snow removal and playground equipment.
• Manage inventory and procurement of custodial maintenance equipment, supplies and materials; receive incoming supplies.
• Train staff on proper cleaning techniques and PPE; assist in emergency evacuation procedures.
• On call to return to the facility for emergencies (break-ins, broken windows, fire alarms, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Graduate or GED

Currently holds Civil Service title of Custodian or on the current list

Two years' experience as an Assistant Custodian and One additional year experience in building cleaning work

Completion of eighth grade plus one year paid full-time or part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work
