Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. seeks a skilled CNC Machinist (VTL) for its Savannah, GA facility on the night shift, with initial training on day shift.

You will interpret blueprints and GD&T, set up large VTLs, and machine gas turbine components to tight tolerances, ensuring quality and on-time delivery. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years CNC machining experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Strong experience operating large VTL machines.
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
• Experience with alloy steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, and large forgings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work night shift after initial training period.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate large CNC Vertical Turning Lathes.
• Machine large gas turbine components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerances.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies appropriate for large forgings and castings.
• Optimize cutting parameters to improve quality, cycle time, and tool life.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues with minimal supervision.
• Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to support first-time-right builds.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
