American Precision Industries, Inc. in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a CNC Setup Technician. You will set up CNC mills and lathes, install tooling, verify programs, and support operators to maintain production flow.

The ideal candidate has 2–4+ years of CNC experience, reads blueprints and GD&T, understands G-code, and uses precision measuring tools. This full-time role offers strong benefits and a competitive hourly wage. Shift: Mon–Thu 4:15PM–2:45AM, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of CNC machining or setup experience.
• Strong understanding of tooling, work holding, offsets, and machine operation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges).
• Basic understanding of G-code and CNC control navigation (Fanuc, Siemens, Celos, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machines by installing tooling, fixtures, work holding, and verifying correct program selection.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and setup sheets to determine machining requirements.
• Load and align raw material, establish work offsets, and run first-article parts to confirm accuracy.
• Perform program verification and minor G-code edits when needed to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Inspect first-article and in-process parts using precision measuring tools to confirm dimensions and tolerances.
• Troubleshoot setup-related issues, including tool wear, work holding problems, and dimensional deviations.
• Support CNC operators by providing clear instructions, answering questions, and ensuring smooth handoff after setup.
• Maintain tooling, fixtures, and setup documentation, reporting any issues or improvement opportunities.
• Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve machining challenges and improve processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Carry out additional machining or production tasks as assigned to support workflow and production goals.
