Job summary

The Community Hospital of Huntington Park is seeking a Per Diem Night Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform moderately complex and complex tests across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank and serology. This on-site position requires accurate, timely results and strict adherence to CLIA, HIPAA and AIDET communication standards.

You will work under the supervision of the lead CLS, laboratory manager/supervisor, and the administrative director of Laboratory Services,

Qualifications

• Minimum six (6) months’ experience in an accredited hospital laboratory in at least two (2) laboratory sections preferred.
• Strong critical thinking, service excellence and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions; demonstrates PC (computer) skills.
• Capacity to learn, synthesize information, make judgments, work independently, and collaborate with team members.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents maintenance, temperature checks, specimen rejection and troubleshooting; adheres to schedules and completes work.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Participates in in-service and competency assessment programs; helps train new team members.
• Ensures clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers and patients; uses AIDET in interactions.
• Performs other duties as assigned by CLS lead or lab manager.
