SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Cleaner (Nights) for a full-time night shift. The role involves performing a wide range of cleaning tasks across offices, classrooms, and patient areas, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting facility operations in a diverse urban hospital setting.

The position requires ability to follow instructions, work independently or with a team, and adapt to varied cleaning environments with times from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

• Labor Class: There are no education or experience requirements for this class.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned areas.
• Collects trash and recycling; cleans spills; disposes waste following procedures.
• Assembles cleaning carts and prepares/dilutes cleaning solutions as directed.
• Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, and windows with appropriate cleaning devices.
• Vacuums, strips/waxes floors, and shampoos carpets; cleans showers and restrooms.
• Replaces light bulbs and dusts or washes fixtures and high places.
