Job summary

MetroHealth Medical Center is seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, assemble and sterilize surgical instruments. You will interface with OR and labor/delivery teams to ensure proper instrument handling and availability.

Daily sterilizer testing and meticulous recordkeeping are required to support patient safety. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of CST experience, and certification such as CBSPD CSRT or CRCST.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of Central Sterile Processing experience.
• Must have CBSPD CSRT certification or CRCST certification.
• Good communication and phone etiquette.
• Critical thinking and knowledge of surgical instrumentation terminology.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
• Ability to interact with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization and storage of all surgical instruments.
• Collaborate with operating room and labor/delivery staff regarding care and use of instruments.
• Operate instrument washer and reprocessing equipment; maintain sterilizer logs and supplies.
• Conduct daily sterilizer testing and maintain records.
• Uphold MetroHealth System mission, vision, and service standards.
