Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa is seeking an Operating Engineer to maintain and operate boilers, chillers, medical gas/vacuum systems, domestic water, and AHU equipment. The role includes daily testing, record keeping, and energy monitoring.

The position requires HVAC/industrial experience, a boiler license (or ability to obtain one in 12 months), and a valid driver’s license. It features a rotating 11pm–7am schedule and safety compliance. MercyOne emphasizes patient and staff service.

Qualifications

• Education and formal training in HVAC or industrial equipment operational knowledge.
• Ability to obtain Boiler Operator license within 12 months.
• Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
• Must be computer literate and able to document records clearly.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be fit tested annually.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains and monitors high-pressure boilers and their support systems.
• Operates, maintains and monitors chillers, chilled water and their support systems.
• Operates, maintains and monitors domestic water and hydronic heating/cooling distributions.
• Operates air handling systems and tests water chemistry.
• Maintains records and monitors energy usage; troubleshoots equipment.
